Based in Marsannay, founded by Sylvain Pataille (university in Bordeaux as an oenologist) in 1999 while he was still working at a lab in Beaune. He then went full time in 2001. Today he produces 6 different Marsannay cuvées and two Bourgogne rouge cuvées, a few white wines and a Rosé. The estate is certified organic since 2008, and also practicing biodynamic.
There is no premier cru in Marsannay. In 2002, some lieux-dits (small piece of vineyard with a traditional name assigned) including Clos du Roy, were in the process of upgrading to premier cru, but today such action is still far from finished, and it is unlikely we will see premier crus in Marsannay in the near future. 2018 is another excellent vintage in Burgundy, although the more premium wines need time to develop.
