The Confuron family have been vignerons since the 17th century , famous for their aromatic intensity and minerality, and expertise in vine selections, they even have a Pinot Noir clone named Pinot Confuron. They made wines from village level to grand cru level, from Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny, Nuits-Saint-Georges and Pommard. The vineyards never used synthetic herbicides or pesticides. Wines are unfiltered and unfined. 100% whole cluster fermentation. Village wines use 10 to 20 percent new oak, premier crus use a bit more, and a maximum of 50 percent for grands crus. Wines are bottled unfined and filtered. Organic farming practices.
Lavaut Saint-Jacques is next to the more famous Clos Saint-Jacques, providing excellent quality with a relatively more reasonable price. The style, however, is usually leaner than its neighbour, but still with great structure and ageing potential. 2010 is also one of the best vintages in Burgundy.
